Even with this low driving stat Canadians yet love their cars
Canadian research firm Angus Reid and the car-sharing visitor Turo found that Canadians' cars are sitting idle nearly 96 percent of the fourth dimension on boilerplate.
The study establish that the boilerplate Canadian drives for 380 hours per year while their vehicle remains idle for the remainder, which comes to 8,380 hours.
Forty-one pct of people who own more than one vehicle said that their secondary motorcar almost never gets used.
Even with these low statistics, "78 pct of Canadians think that it would be impossible for them to non have a machine," according to the report. Specifically, 49 per centum of Canadians say they would have to detect a new job if they didn't own a car. In rural Canada, these statistics jump to 89 percent and 58 percent respectively.
Even though this is the case, Canada is still very much a "automobile-owning civilization," with 84 percent of people owning a vehicle. To break this downwardly a bit, the business firm says that only 64 pct of Canadians aged eighteen to 34 own a vehicle.
On a lighter annotation, 55 pct of Canadians said, "they feel emotionally attached to their cars, and 61 per centum of respondents maxim that they have a "dream machine" that they would similar to own.
Interestingly, in the 18 to 34-year-erstwhile age group, xviii percent of people said their dream car is a Tesla.
"The fact that young Canadians think of Tesla as their number one dream car shows that the time to come of the auto industry will be very much driven by engineering science and make clean energy," said Cedric Mathieu, the managing director of Turo Canada, in a contempo press release.
