So basically, I'chiliad porting the "Photographic camera Standard" contour created by adobe to Canon Cameras (it'south from EOS R but actually they seem to be the same) to Sony cameras, and so color friction match by eye to Sony files.
A bit more in depth:
- I used dcpTool (costless software) to port the canon profile to sony cameras, changing the name of the photographic camera...
- I'm also replacing the white balance matrix from the original photographic camera to the new camera, to fix the white residuum issues in the first versions
- I've been playing with the curve in the .dcp file. The curve built in the Canon profile is too contrasty, so in before versions I replaced information technology with the Sony camera standard profile curve, and then for a custom made curve, then adjusted with curves in the preset, etc. In the last version, I'm replacing the bend in the .dcp profile for a fully flat curve, and and then in the preset, I'm adjusting the dissimilarity with 3 curves separately, and so I tin better mimic the Canon cold/warm behavior in shadows and highlights. I do this in the post-obit style:
- I downloaded from imaging-resource some jpg shots from the catechism eos R
- I downloaded equally well the a73 raws in the same conditions.
- following the grey patches in the machbeth chart, one past one I adapted the points in the RGB channels to match the catechism jpg from the sony raw, looking at the RGB values in lightroom for every patch.
- Then I tweaked the colors to match the machbeth (matching sony raw to canon jpg) equally skillful equally I could, using the scale sliders first, and the HSL panel later on.
- Then examination the preset in many of my pictures to see how it looks and proceed fine tuning information technology.
Basically that's it
It's a lot of work, I've been working on it for a long time, and yes, it's much easier in the a73 because the colour is only better (and just for that I prefer the a73 instead of the R3), just even so in some fourth dimension I will move to canon (when they add IBIS and more lenses available) because the color science is just better, no matter what some webs or youtubers say, I trust my optics.
